Cultural Enrichment

Ozanam has traditionally attempted to provide a comprehensive experience to adolescents and their families, offering dignity and caring, the kind of help which will minimize limitations as well as develop natural endowments. In this spirit, Ozanam's Cultural Enrichment Program was formed to help assure that these corrective experiences be optimal for all participants and their families without regard to race or religion.

The Cultural Enrichment Committee's goal is to enhance Ozanam's programs by facilitating educational experiences for staff as well as students to legitimize diverse cultural, ethnic and religious heritages, as well as facilitate administrative efforts to improve communication and representation on minority issues in all areas of Ozanam's programs.

Ozanam embraces cultural enrichment throughout the year as staff and students work together to educate and celebrate our heritages and differences. Such celebrations as Cinch De Mayo, Black History Month, United Nations Day and Native American Day are just a few of the celebrations taking place, with the annual EL-A-MAD festival (an acronym standing for Enriching Lives and Making a Difference) celebrating cultural diversity though out the world.

Ozanam is part of Cornerstones of Care, a partnership of agencies providing therapeutic treatment services for children and families. Visit our Affiliations and Partners page to find out more.

    History

In 1948, Ozanam began as a small home for a handful of boys. Throughout the past 60 years, staff members have continued to recognize and respond to growing needs within the community in order to provide a continuum of care for thousands of children, families, homeless young adults, and schools throughout the Midwest.
