Volunteer and make a difference in the life of a child!
All it takes to be a great Ozanam volunteer is to be a caring, committed individual who want to share their time and talents to help the young people in our programs or the staff who care for them.
There is something for everyone within our volunteer program. Opportunities to volunteer include...
- Be a part of our Ozanam PAL (Positive Adult Leaders) Mentoring program. If you are a patient and kind individual at least 21 years old with valid a drivers license and insurance, then you can apply to become a mentor to one of the boys or girls at Ozanam, who are between 12 and 18 years old. The recommended time commitment for this position is 2 or 3 hours per week. An application process and background check is required. The children at Ozanam need positive adults in their lives, and you can make a difference!
- Dare to make a difference by being a mentor for a child in foster care. The Ozanam Pathways Mentoring Program is a mentoring effort that links caring adult volunteers with children and youth, ages 7 to 21 years old, who are in foster care placements throughout the Kansas City area. The age preferences and interests and skills of a mentor will be considered when making a match with a youth. The mentor will develop a personal, ongoing relationship with the child they are mentoring as they engage in activities in the community. For further information, please contact

- Become a tutor and help one of our students with his or her schoolwork. Many boys and girls need extra help with their studies, and extra time spent with volunteers can improve their grades and study skills. The recommended time commitment for this position is 1 to 2 hours per week.
- Assist the clerical staff with everything from filing to answering phones. Many staff members at Ozanam wear multiple hats when it comes to their daily duties, and your assistance allows them to help the children even more.
- Sign-up to be a Special Events Volunteer and meet interesting people in the community for a good cause. Join a planning committee or assist during the event in order to make it as successful as possible. We couldn't do it without you! Contact Allie at 816-508-3606 or

- Plan a group project with your organization, company or family. Ozanam's large campus has accommodated groups ranging from 10 to 100, and projects vary depending on the season. Your group could enjoy landscaping, painting, or any number of other activities throughout the year.
- Join the Ozanam Guild, a group of young professionals who meet monthly and plan ways to help the boys and girls. They raise funds for Ozanam through a variety of parties and happy hours throughout the year while networking and making new friends. In addition, they organize children's birthday parties and other fun celebrations on Ozanam's main campus throughout the year. To find out how to join the Ozanam Guild, visit www.ozanamguild.org.
